WebAlerts: News & RSS Syndication for the College of New Jersey

Overview

The College of New Jersey first used a web-based news application to display inclement weather alerts on its home page. The ease of use and convenience of publishing news from any web browser quickly led to institution-wide adoption of this technology solution. Our Web Alerts application currently hosts over 65 news feeds including: TCNJ Top Stories, TCNJ Press Releases, This Week at TCNJ, and feeds for most academic and administrative departments. The latest upgrade now offers RSS feeds, display of archived items organized by month and year, and routing of news items to the Media and Public Relations staff for consideration as a press release or campus calendar entry.

Milliseconds: A Blog for Web Usability Professionals in Higher Education

Web usability professionals are dedicated to improving every web user experience. We strive to build better navigation systems, logins, shopping carts, database queries, interactive product demos, and more. This blog is about how I interact with users and other web professionals to try to make the web a little bit better … one page at a time. And hopefully a little faster and more efficient in a world where milliseconds count. Please visit my blog and comment on the entries that interest you.

Web Forms for The College of New Jersey’s Campus Community

Overview
TCNJ’s Campus Community uses “The Form Genie” for most of its web-based forms including: applications, event registration, feedback and customer satisfaction surveys, social research surveys, weekly reports, and more. The Form Genie is available to every member of TCNJ’s campus community that has a TCNJ email account. Users are guided through the form creation process with intuitive navigation. Since the Form Genie is a custom made application, form fields and options match the business processes of the institution. Powerful web-based reports present form results that are easy to access and understand, and all form data can be exported into other database systems. The usage of Form Genie continues to grow as the institution’s web-based services expand.
