Podcasts aid in the process of keeping a site new and updated without allowing for downtime.
Enhanced podcasts: video or audio with “chapters†… like a DVD.
Philosophy: Technology shouldn’t get in the way of education.
Three phases of digital content:
- Create – photos, movies, music, voice, text
- Distribute – Podcasting, iTunes U, etc …
- Access – iPod, iTunes, WMP, mplayer

Creating a Podcast using a Mac and iLife:
- Record audio & add images/videos in GarageBand (which seems far more complicated than advertised)
- Export (“send toâ€) iWeb, creates page for you (and assumedly edits xml file also).
- Publish from iWeb to folder for upload, or upload to .Mac.
- May not be flexible, but it’s simple for a professor to put up a syndicated lesson.
iTunes U:
- A resource for academia.
- 500 GB of space (on Apple servers)
- Interfaces with your own user authentication methods.
- Splash page + link to iTMS for your university.
- Students and faculty can post audio, video, presentations & documents.
- Add files to your section with a simple browser-based iTunes U CMS.
